Happy New Year and Happy Birthday all January Born! If you’re born in January you are also very lucky to have Garnet as your birthstone. A lot of people don’t know that Garnets come in different colors. The most common being red, the other colors include orange, yellow, purple, and vibrant green. There are even garnets that change color. Depending on the lighting, garnet can change from blue to purple.

Some beliege that the true value of this January birthstone is its power to bring those who wear it good health, wealth, and happiness.

The different types of garnet range between a 6.5-7.5 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. This means that not all garnets are good to wear everyday unless in earrings, a pendant/necklace, or brooches.

Garnets are also the gem of the 2nd wedding anniversary.
